Principles of Reflexology

The art of Reflexology dates back to Ancient Egypt and has become increasingly popular in the Western world over the past 100 years. Reflexology is a non-invasive touch complementary therapy which uses the technique of stimulating pressure points in the hands and feet to help aid with relaxation and overall well-being. These pressure points are said to correlate to different areas of the body. Stresses from everyday life or medical conditions can cause our bodies to become imbalanced, which presents as congestion in the hands and feet.

Reflexology helps to aid the body’s ability to relax and heal by stimulating those areas that become congested. Reflexology is suitable for anyone at any age; however, there may be occasions where it may not be suitable to provide treatment due to certain medical conditions. If you are unsure, please do not hesitate to contact me to ask!

About Reproductive Reflexology

I have trained with the Association of Reproductive Reflexologists, gaining specialist knowledge in a wide range of reproductive health concerns. This training has equipped me with a comprehensive toolkit of reflexology techniques that can be used to support clients experiencing these conditions. In addition to general reproductive health support, I have undertaken further training to assist individuals and couples who are trying to conceive.

The reproductive reflexology protocols I use are designed to help encourage hormonal balance and support natural cycle regulation, offering tailored care for both men and women on their journey toward parenthood. In some cases natural conception isn’t always an option, and I understand how challenging that can feel.

I’m also trained in reflexology techniques that can work alongside IVF treatment, offering gentle support throughout the process. Trying to conceive can be an exciting chapter, but it often comes with stress, uncertainty, and emotional ups and downs. For many months, or even years, without a positive result can feel deeply disheartening. Reflexology offers a gentle, holistic approach to support both women and men during this time. By promoting balance within the body and reducing stress, it can help create a more supportive environment for conception, physically, emotionally, and hormonally

How Your Reproductive Appointments Work

For those trying to conceive the recommended structure of your appointments is set out below. These are available to individuals, male or female as well as couples.

Initial Consultation

Before your treatment plan begins, we will meet for an initial consultation to discuss your medical history and where you are in your conception journey. This helps me tailor each treatment to your individual needs and allows me to offer relevant information or signpost you to additional support where helpful. This Appointment will take about an hour for individuals or 1.5 hours for a couple appointment.

Reproductive Reflexology Appointments

It is generally recommended that both male and female clients attend an initial course of 12 weekly sessions.

For female clients, this timeframe allows us to observe your cycle and adapt treatments to each phase, supporting natural hormonal regulation, egg development and ovulation. For male clients, sperm takes around 100 days to develop, so during this period we will focus on supporting sperm health and vitality.

Continued weekly sessions are advised, but I understand this may not always be practical. If you choose to reduce the frequency, we will plan your treatments carefully to ensure they are timed for the best possible benefit, based on your cycle and individual needs.

Post-Natal Reflexology

Reflexology can offer gentle, calming support during the postnatal period, helping mothers as they adjust to life with their new baby. Menopause Support Reflexology

Menopause is a natural stage in a woman’s life, but the symptoms that accompany it can often lead to discomfort and stress. Reflexology offers a gentle, holistic approach to support your well-being during this transition. By helping to restore balance, reduce stress and improve relaxation, reflexology can promote alignment and relief.

Reflexology offers a valuable opportunity to pause, reflect, and realign as you step into the next stage of your life with balance and renewed energy.

Research has shown that reflexology may be effective in alleviating several common menopausal symptoms, including:

– Sleep disorders (1)

– Vasomotor complaints such as night sweats and hot flushes (2)

– Reducing women’s depression during menopause (3)

Studies have also shown that chronically elevated cortisol (the body’s primary stress hormone) can increase the severity of menopause symptoms. That’s why it’s so important to take time for yourself. Prioritise rest, relaxation, and self-care! (4)
